PM Announces Free Online Coaching for Competitive Exams

NEW DELHI: In a significant announcement aimed at easing the financial burden on students and young job aspirants, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the government will provide free online coaching for various competitive examinations. The announcement was made during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort on August 15.

The initiative could prove to be a major relief for lakhs of aspirants, particularly those from economically weaker and middle-class families who often spend substantial amounts on private coaching. With quality coaching increasingly becoming expensive and concentrated in a few major cities, the proposed online platform has the potential to bring expert guidance and study resources within reach of students living in remote and underserved areas.

The announcement also comes alongside a broader push for youth empowerment, including AI training for one crore young Indians. (The Times of India)

If implemented effectively, the free coaching programme could help level the playing field by reducing the dependence of aspirants on costly coaching institutes. However, its real success will depend on the quality of faculty, availability of comprehensive study material, mock tests, mentorship and an efficient doubt-resolution mechanism.

The initiative is being viewed as a potentially transformative step towards ensuring that a student’s chances of preparing for a competitive examination are determined more by talent and hard work than by the ability to pay hefty coaching fees.
