Kathua: In a case raising serious questions over the conduct of a law-enforcement official, a Police Sub-Inspector posted in Kathua district has been booked under the NDPS Act after he was allegedly found behaving under the influence of an intoxicating substance.
The development assumes added significance as the officer is part of the force entrusted with enforcing the law and tackling the growing menace of narcotics, making the allegation particularly serious.
According to official case details, PSI Amjid Khan (GEC No. 245791) was noticed behaving in a manner that raised suspicion of consumption of an intoxicating substance while at the concerned police station.
He was subsequently medically examined at SDH Hiranagar, where a drug-testing kit was used. The examination reportedly indicated consumption of a narcotic/contraband substance.
Following the medical examination, FIR No. 97/2026 was registered at the concerned police station under Sections 8/27 of the NDPS Act.
The investigation has been entrusted to PSI Rajat Jasrotia (No. 196315/EXJ), who will ascertain the circumstances surrounding the alleged consumption and establish the facts in accordance with law.
