NEW DELHI : Eminent Indian theoretical physicist Prof Deepak Dhar has been awarded the prestigious 2026 Dirac Medal for his pioneering contributions to statistical mechanics. Dhar, a distinguished professor at the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS-TIFR), Bengaluru, is widely recognised for his work on statistical physics, stochastic processes and complex systems. He became the first Indian recipient of the Boltzmann Medal in 2022 and was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 2023. His latest international recognition further highlights India’s contribution to cutting-edge theoretical physics.
