Kolkatta: The Purulia Superintendent of Police Joy Biswas on Saturday was shunted out after two BJP supporters were brutally killed in the district. He has been replaced by Akash Magharia, a 2009 batch IPS officer.

The body of Dulal Kumar, a 32-year-old BJP worker’s body was found hanging from by a pole in Dabha village of Purulia’s Balarampur. West Bengal BJP Twitter handle =posted a video, alleging that the TMC was behind the crime.

This is the second BJP worker found dead hanging in Purulia. Earlier in the week, young BJP activist Trilochon Mahato was found hanging from a tree. It prompted strong reaction from BJP President Amit Shah who condemned the incident and blamed state government for inaction. TMC on its part has denied all allegations in this regard. Senior BJP leader Rahul Sinha has asked for CBI probe into these deaths.

BJP President Amit Shah on Sunday lashed out at Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government over the second killing in the state.

“Distressed to know about yet another killing of BJP karyakarta Dulal Kumar in Balrampur, West Bengal. This continued brutality and violence in the land of West Bengal is shameful and inhuman. Mamata Banerjee’s govt has completely failed to maintain law and order in the state,” Shah tweeted on Saturday afternoon.

BJP MP Babul Supriyo also tweeted about the incident. “Another BJP member frm Balrampur, was hanged 2 death by violent TMC goons. What crimes have they committed by merely following BJP? It’s shameful how democracy dies in Bengal every day while @MamataOfficial stays mum on it (sic),” he said,

While Mamata Banerjee hasn’t spoken or tweeted about the incident, instead focussing on ‘remembering’ the late Raj Kapoor on his death anniversary, Rajya Sabha MP Derek O Brien tweeted saying it was a ‘despicable killing’. He wrote on Twitter: “We strongly condemn this despicable killing. All angles must be probed. The perpetrators of this heinous act must be punished. What role did Jharkhand border have to play? What elements of Bajrang Dal, Maoist or BJP involved. Let the truth be found out through proper investigation.”
