Jammu: For the past several years the government Maulana Azad Memorial college has become a pre retirement dumping ground for principals rendering a deep dent on the college overall development.
Following this peculiar practice of higher education department, the college development come to a standstill besides there is a serious issues of indiscipline in the college campus.
A look at the college honor board lying in principal chamber clearly reflects the mindset of the top officers of HED in placement of principals who are approaching fag end of their service.
Since 2017 six principals who were transferred to head this institution attained superannuation. This simply shows that each principal since 2017 has contributed average 4 months of service for this college which once known for excellence.
Principal at the fag end of retirement got transferred. “This is a sick transfer practice, said a lady professor on condition of anonymity.
In fact, it’s a question mark on deliverence of service as such principals only busy in preparing their retirement papers, she added.
Not only this, the college is left at God mercy as the chair of principal is lying vacant since 30th sep, 2019.
The failure on part of the HED to provide principal for government Maulana Azad Memorial college has led to several blockades in normal functioning of the college.
The HED should not transfer the principals prematurely. More importantly, principal approaching retirement with few months in service atleast should not be transferred for the sake of college development, said another professor preferring anonymity.
But, this is possible only when babus sitting in civil secretariat stops relied blindly on proposals made by lower echelons officials especially the section officer, added sources.
Secretary HED Talat Parvez Rohella while interacting with JKGN on the issue said ” Soon, this ignoble practice will be trashed and principals will not be transferred prematurely.
We have finalized the names for appointment of new principals for government MAM college as wells as GCW Parade. Both, positions will be filled once advisor accord approval, he added.
