JAMMU : In a significant legal development, the 1st Additional Sessions Court, Jammu, has stayed the operation of the September 5 order directing registration of an FIR against Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunil Singh Jasrotia.
The stay was granted while hearing a criminal revision petition filed by Jasrotia against the order passed by the City Judge/JMIC Jammu in the case titled Azhar Khan vs Sunil Singh Jasrotia & Anr.
After hearing the petitioner’s counsel and examining the record, the Sessions Court observed that a prima-facie case had been made out and that the balance of convenience favoured the petitioner. It also noted the possibility of irreparable loss if interim protection was denied.
The court accordingly stayed the impugned order until the next hearing, subject to objections by the respondents. Notices have been issued and the lower court record summoned. The matter will come up on October 1, 2026.
The earlier order, passed on Khan’s application under Section 175(3) BNSS, had directed Gandhi Nagar Police Station to register an FIR and investigate it along with FIR No. 245/2025.
