JAMMU: Striking on the head of Press Club Jammu, the Jammu Municipal Corporation has removed all the unauthorized hoardings raised on top of its building demonstrating an exhibition of parallel authority.
On Friday, the team of JMC under the able direction of Commissioner Avny Lavasa in a well organized operation removed illegal hoardings & banners from various main roads and from the rooftop of numerous buildings in different parts of the city.
It’s worth to mentioned here that these unauthorized hoardings raised on buildings and roadside have become a source of danger to commuters’ safety.
Considering that such hoardings distract commuters and those driving vehicles, endangering the lives of people on the roads, the team of JMC in a most daring act raised down 9 huge hoarding structures mounted on the roof as well as ground within the premises of PCJ.
During the drive, JMC removed all the illegal hoardings which has been there in place since years mocking the authority.
The team removed 9 hoardings of size 30 x 15 & 20 x 10. All these hoardings were installed without the permission of JMC.
The team was headed by Secretary JMC, Tinna Mahajan who is incharge hoarding wing in JMC.
Apart from ensuring the safety of drivers and commuters on the road, the drive was aimed at aligning the city of temples to fit it in the frame of smart city project.
Sending a loud and clear message to everyone, the JMC has appealed to the general public to remove all such hoardings, signboards, posters, banners, billboards & pole kiosks installed in contravention of section 116 of the J&K Municipal Act 2000, failing which action will be initiated against the offenders.
As per JMC authorities, contravention of section 116 of the J&K Municipal Act 2000, is actionable as per provisions of section 119 and 384 of the J&K Municipal Act 2000 with fine which may extent to Rs. 5000/- and with a further fine which may extend to Rs. 1000/- for every day during which the offence continues
