Jammu: If suspended Khilafwarzi Inspector Gopal alias Laddu known as King of illegal constructions in Channi Himmat then one Khilafwarzi inspector of Jammu Municipal Corporation Romesh Wazir crowned himself as lord of illegal constructions in Gandhinagar and it’s surrounding areas.
Known for uttering objectionable words for his commissioner as well joint commissioner in front of the people in market, Wazir openly brags of his close proximity with Baau Ji (Mayor JMC).
In our efforts to highlight deliberate revenue loss to JMC by corrupt khilafwarzi inspectors thereby allowing illegal constructions, the JKGN has started a series highlighting the magnitude of corruption prevailing under the garb of unauthorised constructions in Nai Basti, Gandhinagar and Shastri Nagar areas under the supervision of AEO Ravinder Sharma and khilafwarzi inspector Ramesh Wazir.
Its learnt that on one side the Jodi No 1 (Ravinder& Wazir) exhibits token demolition exercise against the violators and on the other hand allows illegal constructions for reasons best known to them.
On August 23, the Assistant Enforcement Officer Ravinder Sharma was informed about one illegal construction going on at H.No 65 A small plot Gandhinagar opposite Hello Jammu Newspaper. However, instead of acting against the violator, the duo assist the owner by remaining mum on it.
The slab work was completed on Aug, 25 in broadday light without any hurdles from Jodi number 1 who claims that they would not spare anyone for illegal constructions in ward number 20, 21, 22 and 23.
“There are rumours in the market that the owner namely Nanda shelved out Rs.1.50 lakh for slab work on first floor and an additional Rs 3 lakh for two shutters.” alleged a neighbourer of Nanda who owns 65 A plot.
Its learnt that Ravinder Sharma who also happens to be brother of Deputy Mayor Purnima Sharma along with khilafwarzi inspector Wazir in order to exert pressure on violators first carried a token demolish exercise. Then the parleys begin for settling the deal. Those who refuses to bend were served with notice under section 7 (1), revealed one khilafwarzi inspector preferring anonymity.
There are almost ten illegal large constructions goin on in and around Lakshmi Narayan Mandir in Gandhi Nagar which were never touched upon by Ravinder & Wazir for some obvious reasons.
However, those who fails to meet their rate list of raising illegal constructions were targeted albeit pursuing legal proceedings against the defaulters, said another khilafwarzi inspector preferring anonymity.
When contacted AEO Ravinder Sharma said “Khilafwarzi inspector Ramesh Wazir was deputed to stop illegal construction at 65 A Gandhinagar which is owned by one Mr Nanda” But, the same couldn’t be carried out as Wazir avoided the same stating that Mayor sahib verbally asked to refrain from the same” asserted Sharma.
To ascertain the Mayor role in sheltering illegal construction of shops and building at 65 A Gandhinagar, JKGN made several attempts to contact Mayor JMC which could not be materialized.
We also tried to contact commissioner JMC Pankaj Magotra but he prefers to abstain from it.
