In a time span of 3 months, the Samba police under the dynamic leadership of SSP Benam Tosh arrested 30 narcotic suppliers which has sent a shiver down the spine of narcotic traders in the entire district as well its adjoining areas.
SAMBA : Determined to uproot drug menace from the area, the Samba yet again achieved another major success by nabbing three notorious narcotics suppliers, including Deepu Punjabi and Ashu Jatt and recovered heroin, cash and syringes from their possession.
Sharing details on official twitter handle, the Samba police said that on a specific tip off, a police party headed by Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary and comprising of SHO Police Station Vijaypur Tribhawan Khajuria, PSI Ajay Jamwal conducted raid at Gurha Morh, Vijaypur and arrested all the three notorious narco suppliers red-handed while they were supplying heroin (‘chitta’) and syringes to the addicts in lieu of cash Rs 19,440 which has also been seized.
The arrested heroin suppliers have been identified as Deepak Kumar alias Deepu Punjabi s/o Ramesh Kumar r/o Gurha Morh Vijaypur, Ashu Choudhary alias Ashu Jatt s/o Roshan Lal r/o Gagore Vijaypur and Ajay Kumar s/o Om Parkash r/o Shiv Nagar Vijaypur. A case FIR No. 48/2023 u/s 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation is entrusted to DySP Garu Ram Bhardwaj.
The arrested accused had been notorious ‘chitta’ suppliers operating in the areas of Samba, Kathua and Jammu and even outside JK UT. Deepu Punjabi and Ashu Jatt had been involved in several cases registered/ challaned against them in Jammu, Samba, Himachal Pradesh etc. Ashu Jatt was booked in case FIR No. 25/2022 u/s 307/147 IPC, 4/25 Arms Act registered at Police Station Bishnah district Jammu, FIR No. 36/2018 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Gangyal district Jammu and FIR No. 226/2015 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Manali (Himachal Pradesh). Deepu Punjabi was also booked in FIR No. 65/2019 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act registered at police station Vijaypur and challaned in the court of law which is still under trial.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh said that total thirty (30) notorious suppliers of heroin have been arrested in three months and several others have been booked under relevant sections of law in different FIRs and raids are being conducted to nab them.
