Jammu: There is severe resentment prevailing among Rehri vendors of Ustad Mohalla who were rendered jobless by the biased approach of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Several educated unemployed youth from Ustad Mohalla in the event of unable to secure any job in government has started street food vendors along side the Nagrota Park in an effort to meet both end meals of their families.
However, recently the team of JMC has seized their Reharies citing a lame excuse that their presence causing traffic chaos on the road.
“Its a selective targetting as the law abiding citizens hails from Ustad Mohalla and belongs to one particular community”, rued Altaf.
“We just run our food stall merely for three hours in the evening without causing any nuisance on road, he added.
Look at the sorry state of affairs prevailing in Rani Talab outside the Park. Its entire pavement has been turned into shopping mall. But JMC never touched these Rehri vendors as these enjoys patronage of one leader who is affiliated with the BJP party, said Danish.
Similarly, the JMC never dared to touch the Rehri vendors from City Chowk upto entire Purani Mandi as they all backed by one local leader of BJP, added Dheeraj of Ustad Mohalla.
It’s strange in entire length and breadth of the Jammu city, the Rehri vendors are selling street foods on roadside in the evening but the JMC as well as some ‘samaj sevak’ are hell bent to uproot us only, said Mohd Asif angrily.
We are selling our food items in utmost hygiene condition without any hurdles in the smooth movement of vehicles but yet we are being target selectively, said one affected vendor.
Its no more a secret that in every nook and corner of the Jammu city several vendors operates at night along road side without any hurdles from JMC and district administration. Then, why JMC and some samaj sevak are over enthusiastic in snatching the livelihood of a few educated unemployed law abiding youth of Ustad Mohalla is a million dollar question.
