    Police seizes 14 vehicles for illegal mining

    Jammu: Taking strict action against the rampant loot of minor minerals in Jammu, the police has conducted series of raids at identified locations and seized more then dozens vehicles involved in illegal mining 

    Extraction of minor minerals in ruthless and haphazard manner adopting illegal means has caused extensive damage to environment which apart from disturbing ecological balance in the region is also inflicting heavy of loss to the state exchequers.

    In a move to curb this sprawling illegal business a massive crackdown against mining mafia by adopting multi pronged strategy was devised by Jammu Police in which special police teams of police station Satwari as well as police station under the supervision of their respective SDPOs raided several location on the basis inputs generated through local intelligence and seized 13 vehicles engaged in illegal mining.

    In the operation, the Police Post Chatha seized 12 tractor trollies. Whereas one tractor trollies each were seized by Police station Satwari and Bishnah respectively.

    The recoveries were made by SHO PS Satwari, Inspr Sameer Jeelani, SHO PS Bishnah, Inspr Vikram Sharma and PP Chatha, SI Ranjit Singh in their respective jurisdictions.
