JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir’s ace para-archer Sheetal Devi scripted another golden chapter in her remarkable career, winning two gold medals at the ongoing Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Sheetal first teamed up with Toman Kumar to clinch gold in the compound mixed-team event, defeating Indonesia 151-148 in the final. She then produced a stunning comeback in the women’s compound individual final, overcoming Singapore’s Nur Syahidah Alim to retain her continental title.
The 19-year-old archer, who hails from Kishtwar, was trailing early in the individual final but held her nerve to finish strongly and secure a 142-139 victory.
Her double-gold haul has further strengthened her reputation as one of India’s leading para-athletes.
Sheetal has now collected two gold and one silver at the ongoing Games, adding another major achievement to her growing international record.
