JAMMU: Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa has called for a data-driven road safety strategy, directing officials to maintain location-mapped records of accidents to identify vulnerable stretches and undertake targeted corrective measures.
Sherpa issued the directions while reviewing the implementation of the Electronic Detailed Accident Report (eDAR) project and PM RAHAT Scheme. Officials presented a year-wise analysis of road accidents in Jammu district, with the DC stressing timely uploading of complete data on the eDAR portal.
The eDAR platform brings departments involved in accident reporting and case settlement onto a common digital system. Sherpa stressed coordinated action to reduce accidents and save lives.
Reviewing PM RAHAT, which provides cashless treatment to eligible road accident victims, he noted that Jammu, as a major tertiary-care hub, receives a substantial accident caseload and directed that scheme coverage reflect the requirement.
He also reviewed TMS ID generation and asked the Police and Health departments to coordinate closely so that no eligible victim is denied cashless treatment.
