No LPG Roadmap Leaves Amarnath Langar Organisers Upset

Resentment is brewing among organisers of langar seva camps in Jammu ahead of the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra, with concerns mounting over the lack of clarity regarding the supply of LPG cylinders required for running community kitchens for pilgrims.

Expressing serious concern over the issue, a delegation representing Laxmi Narayan Mandir and Banke Bihari Temple near Railway Station Jammu met the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jammu on Friday and apprised her of the difficulties being faced in arranging adequate LPG supplies for the forthcoming yatra.

According to the organisers, despite highlighting the urgency of the matter, the meeting failed to yield any concrete assurance from the district administration regarding measures to ensure uninterrupted availability of LPG cylinders during the pilgrimage period. The delegation members said they left the meeting disappointed as no clear mechanism was outlined to address their concerns.

The organisers asserted that langar seva has remained an inseparable part of the Shri Amarnath Yatra for decades, providing free meals and refreshments to thousands of pilgrims passing through Jammu. They appealed to the district administration to urgently intervene and put in place necessary arrangements for smooth LPG supply so that langars at various locations can function without disruption during the yatra scheduled for next month.
