NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has ordered a fresh UGC-NET examination for English, Commerce and Sociology after complaints and a review found significant flaws in the question papers. The affected examinations will be held again on September 9 and 10 without any additional fee for candidates, while the remaining 84 subjects remain unaffected.
The development triggered a protest by the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) outside the NTA office in New Delhi. The student organisation alleged serious irregularities in the conduct of the June 2026 UGC-NET examination and demanded accountability from the agency and the authorities.
Reports indicate that the affected papers faced issues including repeated questions, factual inaccuracies, typographical and translation errors.
The NSUI protest once again brought the spotlight on the credibility of high-stakes national examinations, with students demanding that those responsible for the lapses be held accountable.
