NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday announced a new team of national office-bearers under party president Nitin Nabin, reshaping its central organisational structure with a blend of experienced leaders and fresh faces.
The newly constituted team includes 13 national vice-presidents, eight national general secretaries and 16 national secretaries, besides key appointments to organisational and other party posts. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat, Ram Madhav, Baijayant Panda, D. Purandeswari, Rekha Verma, Bharti Pravin Pawar and Manpreet Singh Badal are among those appointed national vice-presidents.
Former Union Minister Smriti Irani has been named national general secretary, joining Vinod Tawde, Sunil Bansal, former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Satish Poonia, Gajendra Patel, Harish Dwivedi and Sanjay Bhatia. B.L. Santhosh continues as National General Secretary (Organisation), while Shivprakash and Saudan Singh have been appointed National Joint General Secretaries (Organisation).
Union Minister Piyush Goyal has been entrusted with the responsibility of National Treasurer, with Rajesh Mangal appointed Joint Treasurer. Tarun Chugh will serve as Central Office In-charge.
The BJP has also appointed new heads for its various morchas, while Anil Baluni and Deepak Mhaskey have been given charge of the party’s media and social media operations, respectively.
- The appointments, which take effect immediately, mark Nabin’s first major organisational exercise as BJP president and are expected to strengthen the party’s preparations for upcoming electoral battles.
