NEW DELHI: Delhi has been placed under a massive security grid ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party’s proposed “Lehra Do Tiranga” march on Friday. More than 25,000 police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed across central Delhi.
Authorities have imposed prohibitory orders in Connaught Place and adjoining areas. Central Park has also been closed for two days, while additional CCTV surveillance has been installed.
The CJP plans to protest against the arrest of its leaders and demand the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in voter rolls. Police have urged people to avoid the area and warned of traffic restrictions. The heightened security comes after earlier protests triggered widespread detentions and restrictions in the capital.
