SRINAGAR : The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo motu cognisance of a viral video allegedly showing senior IAS officer Kumar Rajeev Ranjan verbally abusing and threatening woman JKAS officer Beenish Wani during an official meeting.
NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar has sought verification of the video and an impartial inquiry from the J&K Chief Secretary. The Commission called for appropriate disciplinary and legal action if the allegations are established.
It also sought safeguards against workplace harassment, victimisation and professional retaliation, besides protection and support for the woman officer.
The NCW has sought an Action Taken Report from the J&K administration within seven days, stressing that every woman officer deserves a safe, respectful and dignified workplace.
