MUMBAI : Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped unhurt after three motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire at his vehicle in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening, triggering a major security alert.
The attackers fired several rounds as Shroff was leaving a football ground. His driver was injured in the firing, while another person nearby also sustained injuries. Police have launched a manhunt and formed multiple teams to identify and trace the shooters.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the attack through a social-media message. A man identifying himself as Anil Pandit reportedly alleged that Shroff had ignored earlier warnings because of his association with actor Salman Khan. Police are verifying the authenticity of the claim and the attackers’ links with the gang.
The incident adds another chapter to the Bishnoi network’s alleged campaign of intimidation around Bollywood. Salman Khan’s Bandra residence was targeted in a 2024 firing, while the 2024 killing of politician Baba Siddique was also claimed by the gang. In 2026, Mumbai Police chargesheeted 17 accused in the firing outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence, alleging links to the Bishnoi gang.
The gang’s alleged reach has also crossed Indian borders. In Canada, shootings linked to its associates have targeted properties associated with singer Gippy Grewal, singer AP Dhillon and comedian Kapil Sharma.
The latest attack has renewed questions over the expanding criminal network’s ability to threaten entertainment figures in India and abroad
