JAMMU: The opening of the Civil Secretariat in Jammu under the Darbar Move witnessed protests by daily wagers and ASHA workers on Monday, with demonstrators demanding regularisation of services and implementation of the Minimum Wages Act.

The protest was led by Sunny Kant Chib, president of the All J&K Daily Wagers Sangharsh Samiti. The protesters attempted to march towards the Civil Secretariat but were stopped by police barricades near the MLA Hostel. Tensions escalated when some demonstrators tried to cross the barricades, following which Chib was detained.

The protesters said they had been waiting for a concrete resolution of their demands for a long time and urged the government to address their employment-related grievances without further delay.
