JAMMU: The Crime Branch Jammu has registered a criminal case under relevant sections of law against accused Rakesh Kumar Gupta S/O Suraj Parkash Gupta R/O H.No-3/Sector-3 Flat No. 04 Shingari Enclave Trikuta Nagra, Jammu, Ravinder Gupta S/O Late Ganesh Dass Gupta R/O 13-P Sector 3, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu Champa Devi W/O Sh. Gandamal R/O H.No-03, Rajinder Nagar, Canal Road, Jammu for their involvement in duping the complainant of Rs. 1. 92 Crores by hatching a criminal conspiracy and inducing the complainant for entering into a false agreement to sell a Residential House, viz House No. 20/2 Ext. Gandhi Nagar, Jammu constructed in one Kanal plot of land.

The case owes its origin to a written complaint lodged by Sardari Lal Gupta S/O Parmanand R/O 191-A Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, alleging therein that the accused No. 1 and 2 introduced him to accused-Smt. Champa Devi, who intended to sell her house. The complainant expressed his willingness to purchase the house for Rs. 1, 92, 00,000/- (Rupees one Crore and ninety two lacs). The accused assured the complainant that sale deed would be executed after getting full and final payment. However, the accused persons received token money of Rs. 45.00 lacs which is mentioned on the agreement to sell and the balance money i.e. Rs. 1,47,00,000/-. The complainant further paid Rs. 40.00 lacs through cheque and Rs. 5.00 lacs in cash to accused persons.

The complainant fell ill and remained admitted for a long period of time, but when he recovered he asked the suspects to execute sale deed of the house in question but the suspects did not execute the sale deed on one pretext or other.

Further the complainant came to know that the accused persons have transferred the said property to some other persons in order to deprive the complainant from ownership of the said house. Thus, the accused persons in league with one another have cheated the complainant.

On receipt of the complaint a preliminary verification was initiated by Crime Branch Jammu and allegations levelled against the accused have been substantiated. Thus the omissions and commissions, on the part of the accused prima facie, constitute offences punishable U/S 420, 120 RPC and a formal case is registered in P/S Crime Branch, Jammu against the above mentioned accused persons for in depth investigation.
