Jammu:In its desperate bid to remain in fray for the 2019 elections as a national party, Congress is resorting to such low level of politics that involves systematic attack on various pillars of our democracy as well as the great Indian Army accused Brig Anil Gupta, State Spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party. The Indian democracy rests on the venerable four pillars of the legislature, the executive, the judiciary and the press. A crumbling, dynastic and a leaderless party Congress refuses to evolve beyond its myopic, historical and outdated thinking. Unable to digest the fact that the nation is scaling new heights under a government that focuses on the agenda of development, the Congress with the support of plethora of regional and/or caste based parties with populist agendas disrupted the entire budget session of the parliament earning it the distinction of being least productive session of parliament in last 18 years. Each minute of the session costs Rs. 2.5 Lakh thus causing huge loss to the state exchequer, lamented Brig Gupta.
As far as the second pillar is concerned, personal attacks on the Prime Minister of India is a routine thing with the Congress leadership. There desperation has reached such an extent that during the recently held Jan Aakrosh Rally at New Delhi, Sonia and Rahul Gandhi combined mentioned the name of Prime Minister every minute during their speeches which were nothing but aimed at verbal assault on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighted Brig Gupta.
Congress hasnot spared even the strongest and most robust third pillar, the judiciary. It earlier coaxed four judges of the Supreme Court collegium to hold a press conference and publicly defy the authority of the Chief Justice of India. Having failed to achieve the desired aim Congress Party moved a removal notice against the Chief Justice which was rightly turned down by the Chairman of Rajya Sabha because it lacked substance, claimed the spokesperson. In Justice Loya case, the Supreme Court not only castigated the Party for wasting precious time of the Court but also admonished Congress for “maligning” the judiciary, said Brig Gupta.
The fourth pillar, the press is also being victimised by the Congress and its workers when they regularly assault media persons. Most recently journalist reporting on ‘empty seats’ at Congress’s Jan Aakrosh rally was not only heckled but the cameraman but was also prevented from live coverage by blocking the view of the camera. Earlier during the Gujarat elections, a Zee News journalist and other crew members were bashed up by Congress workers in Jamnagar, pointed out Brig Gupta.
The most dependable and strongest instrument of a nation’s might, the Army has also been the victim of the lowly politics of Congress. Indian Army which is proud of its apolitical naturewas subjected to humiliation by the Congress Party when its leaders including Rahul Gandhi questioned the veracity of the ‘Surgical Strikes’ launched by its brave soldiers in 2016. Its leaders have also been calling names to the Chief of Army Staff. “An RTI response has nailed the Congress party’s lie about having conducted Surgical Strikes. The DGMO of the Indian Army has gone on record to state that there is no data on surgical strikes before September 2016. The Congress had claimed that the UPA had conducted three Surgical Strikes and previous governments had also conducted such operations. The RTI response has raised a number of questions over the Congress party’s attempts to politicise and play down the significance of September 2016’s Surgical Strike by Indian Army.” said Brig Gupta.
