NEW DELHI : Bench of of the Delhi High Court headed by Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav on Thursday set aside a Delhi University (DU) order restricting National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) national secretary Lokesh Chugh from the university for allegedly organising the screening of the BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The court is unable to sustain the impugned order dated March 10, 2023. Impugned order is set aside. The admission of the petitioner is restored. Necessary consequences will follow,” the Court ordered.
The student leader was banned from appearing in any university examination for one year after a protest was organised at DU on January 27. It is alleged that during the protest, the BBC documentary titled India: The Modi Question was also screened for public viewing.
