JAMMU: Misinformation has become the latest tool for some officials of the enforcement wing in Jammu Development Authority to keep higher authorities in the dark on unauthorized constructions and illegal colonies that are being patronized fearlessly in the Phallian Mandal area and incurring a loss of revenue worth several crores to the state exchequer in the shape of building permission and CLU fees.
Reacting to our news item on mushrooming constructions in Nandani, Mandal, Chak Lallu Shah, and Karnail Chak sans CLU and building permissions, the Vice-Chairman, JDA, Pankaj Sharma along with officers and officials of the enforcement wing, on Friday carried out an extensive tour of the Phallian Mandal area and took cognizance of illegal constructions, which primarily exist in the Jammu Khas area, where Khilafwarzi Inspector Ramesh Kumar has been deployed to check and report illegal constructions.
Reliable sources in JDA said that due to misleading information provided by a concerned enforcement inspector, the VC failed to notice large-scale illegal constructions existed inside one unapproved colony, which was strangely not flagged in the list of unauthorized colonies notified by the JDA in 2022 after JK Global News relentlessly exposed corruption prevailing in the proliferation of illegal colonies in Phallian Mandal, Vijaypur, Jakh, Bishnah, R.S.Pura, etc.
“Just 50 meters ahead of Government Primary School, Karnail Chak, on the right side of a road, there exists one iron gate leading to a huge unauthorized colony that spreads nearly 300 kanals and tagged as urban agriculture and water buffer body land on the ‘Know Your Master Plan Land Use’ app of JDA. However, the concerned enforcement inspector, out of misadventure to shield illegal constructions in this colony, misguided the VC and DLM by showing the entire area from Government Primary School, Karnail Chak, up to the residence of one retired IPS officer as a JMC zone. This sounds bizarre”, said one official of JDA, on condition of anonymity.
Camouflaged with natural lofty bushes which obstruct vision from road, currently 17 structures are under construction in this unauthorized colony known as Ladakhi colony, which has become a den of corruption for police, revenue, and JDA officials posted in the area. The enforcement official deployed in Jammu Khas frequently visited this colony without fail but astonishingly silent on reporting the same for appropriate action. This is a matter of in-depth investigation for higher ups in JDA to ascertain as to what prompts the concerned enforcement inspector to played tricks with VC JDA by skipping visit to unauthorized colony pretending that the area belongs to JMC.
Masquerading as land buyers, the team of JK Global News visited this Ladakhi colony in Karnail Chak and interacted with several persons who were supervising illegal constructions there. When asked about the rate of land and hurdles about raising structure in the colony, one of the person said, “The land is available at Rs 1.50 lac /marla on Rs 10 affidavit without registration and promises hassle free construction with patronage of JDA officials”.
