Lucknow:Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today visit Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh where he will lay the foundation stone of the Purvanchal Expressway, touted as the country’s longest Expressway.

The 340-km-long Purvanchal Expressway will link nine districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh cities, including PM’s parliamentary Constituency Varanasi, directly with Lucknow and Delhi. It will also be linked with the 302-km-long Lucknow-Agra Expressway and 165-km-long Yamuna Expressway from Agra to Delhi.

Once complete, the Purvanchal  Expressway will connect Delhi with several major towns and cities of Uttar Pradesh. This Expressway will connect districts of Barabanki, Amethi, Sultanpur, Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau and Ghazipur – with Lucknow.

The Rs 23,349.97 crore project will be completed in record 36 months. A cartel of five companies has been given the job of executing the project, divided into eight phases. The UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) is the nodal agency to monitor the work.

Modi, who will be in eastern UP on Saturday and Sunday, is scheduled to visit his parliamentary Constituency Varanasi and adjoining Mirzapur district.  On his two-day visit, PM Modi will inaugurate several projects in the three districts.

In Varanasi, he will dedicate to the nation the Varanasi City Gas Distribution Project and the Varanasi-Ballia EMU train. He will also lay the foundation stone for the PanchkoshiParikrama Marg, and several projects under the Smart City Mission and NamaamiGange. The Prime Minister will also lay the Foundation Stone for an International Convention Centre in Varanasi.

The Prime Minister will visit Mirzapur on July 15th where he will dedicate the Bansagar Canal Project to the Nation. This project will provide a big boost to irrigation in the region, and will be greatly beneficial for the farmers of Mirzapur and Allahabad districts of Uttar Pradesh, a government statement said.

The PM is on an inauguration spree in Uttar Pradesh in July. After Noida and Azamgarh, he will make four more visits to Uttar Pradesh in July inaugurating completed project, laying foundations for new ones and addressing public rallies.

After his visit to three districts, he will return to the state on July 21 to address a farmers’ rally in Shahjahanpur. Modi will visit Lucknow to participate in a MoU signing ceremony of projects which came to the state during the Investors’ Summit on July 21.
