JAMMU : Tightening the noose around alleged land grabbers in the Bahu area, the Forest Department on Thursday dismantled three temporary structures raised allegedly on encroached forest land in Compartment No. 66, Bahu-Raika Beat.
The demolition drive was conducted by the Range Officer, Bahu, along with Block Officers of Bahu and Chowdhi, other field staff and personnel of the Forest Protection Force (FPF).
The department warned that it would not allow forest land to be encroached upon under the guise of temporary structures and said any such construction found on forest land would be removed. It further cautioned that FIRs would be registered against persons found involved in encroachment.
Officials also urged people to remain vigilant against what they described as the designs of a “well-connected land mafia” allegedly attempting to use gullible villagers to further its interests.
The department warned that attempts to obstruct its anti-encroachment operations through what it termed “vicious and defamatory campaigns” against its officers and officials could invite legal action.
The drive signals intensified enforcement against alleged encroachment of forest land in the Bahu area.
