JAMMU: Taking cognizance of operation of restaurant in violation of municipal bye laws, the Jammu Municipal Corporation on Friday sealed a newly opened restaurant ‘House of Cuisines’ on ever busy narrow Amphalla-Palace road opposite SSP Traffic City office at Panjthirthi.
Vide order No JMC/RB/2332 dated 26/08/2022, the commissioner JMC ordered sealing of the restaurant for violation of section 328 of J&K Municipal Corporation Act, 2000.
Under the supervision of JMC Commissioner, Rahul Yadav, the team of JMC led by Enforcement Officer Naresh Kumar and comprised of Enforcement Inspector Arun Nayar and Revenue wing official along with the assistance of police force led by SDPO City, DySP Sharad Kallu and SHO Pacca Danga sealed the premises.
As per the sealing order, consequent upon the online requisition of application for NOC, the owner of the restaurant was asked to furnish relevant building documents housing the restaurant for verification. Instead of responding to the repeated reminders for submission of required documents, he start operation of the restaurant without seeking necessary license and permission from the JMC.
It is worthwhile to mention here that JKGN on August 22 has carried a news item about the serious concern raised by several residents of Karan Nagar as well as Ustad Mohalla over opening of new restaurant in violation of JMC norms and shrinking of road due to illegal parking of cars by visitors to these restaurants.
