The Jammu University is passing through a crisis of the making of a few who have been continuously hogging limelight over the controversy surrounding the death of an Associate Professor of Psychology. There are reports that angered over JUTA agitation against procedural lapses by JU administration and CASH for issuing suspension order in haste, one Alka Sharma in a huff announced her resignation as Convenor CASH as well from the primary membership of JUTA. This action on her part should have been taken quite earlier but who wants to be divested of an apparently important position. There is also a need that other members of CASH must put in their papers on moral grounds. Morality is the causality these days.
We have rightly projected operation stalemate in JU and the attempts of a few hidden hands to spoil the ongoing show. Black sheep are everywhere but it is a matter of some satisfaction that the teachers are united for a while. The wisdom of the incumbent teacher of Law also holding the assignment of Registrar to remain glued to the hot seat deserves standing ovation. Probably he is preparing himself for top slot in National Law University proposed for J&K UT. We have some thick skinned people in all domains of administration who sport stubbornness of a worst order. Officers come and go but show must go on in a dignified manner. Precious time of students is being lost and unfortunately they are directionless in these trying times. If this agitation of teachers continues for a longer duration it may create more complications in the days ahead.
Right thinking citizens fail to understand as to why the VC is so terribly stuck up and bitterly failed to provide the academic and administrative leadership expected of him. We were thinking that some top ranking administrator /academician will be decorating the chair of VC JU but the signals emanating from the JU are not worthy of any appreciation. May be the VC is thinking to exhaust the patience of teachers and create an environment which is conducive for his continuation by hook or crook. At times such gimmicks boomerang and the unity flaunted by teachers in special General Body Meeting of JUTA convened on Monday is an eye opener.
The silence of Raj Bhawan is enigmatic. VC may be talking to LG at personal level but the results up till now are not up to the mark. With the extension in pen down strike, the varsity set to lose two full weeks of academic activities. Academic losses in our country don’t matter much. Personal prestige, whims and fancies of the officers are all the more important. Mr. VC do something which may earn respects for you. The genuine concerns of JUTA without standing on false prestige may be addressed without further delay.
