Handling caste bias is a continuous headache for our systemless system. Discrimination has been separately interpreted by our worthies who preside our over destiny. The Apex Court had to intervene when many important matters of life and death stare us in the face and no visible remedy available. Thank God -diffrence between equity and equality has been drilled into us for promotion to the tile of “Vishwavguru”. An attempt was made to create a classless society but even that backfired. A regressive mindset even among the apparently educated is visible.
In UGC’s equity regulation, flaws have been pointed at the rate of their enforcement and structure. Social justice in Higher Educational Institutions appears to be a pipe dream. Resistence, coercion and holloganism are the new normal. Withdrawal by a few and sticking to the new regulations is a war cry. Much is in the public domain but clarity still eludes and for that we shall have to wait beyond mid March 2026. Dangerous and all OK norms by opposing interests have resulted into volcanic eruptions. Celebrations by a few and disenchantment by others are eating into the vitals of society. Economically disadvantaged have been cleverly incorporated as operation in the name of caste has its own history.
A genuinely workable solution is a need of the hour. At personal level opposed to all sorts of discrimination as it is a poisonous potion harmful in the long run. Even our commercial controllers of religion are doing more harm than good. Fragmention and not unity is being taught which shall have dangerous consequences. A very few among us are serious about the words of sanity, harmony and goodwill. An ailing society can fumble and falter but not forge ahead with might. Let a few of us ponder and work for annihilation of caste virus.
