A bizarre act of negligence on the part of the college authorities has allegedly claimed the life of a young student who fell from a moving bus that was part of a college picnic convoy on its way to Patnitop.
The deceased, identified as Anjali Choudhary, a fourth semester student of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, lost her life in circumstances that have sent shockwaves across the students and academic community.
The tragic incident has raised serious questions about the fitness and safety of the buses hired by the college from a transport vendor that has remained empaneled with the institution for several years. The episode has also put the spotlight on whether proper safety checks were conducted before allowing students to travel in a vehicle entrusted with carrying young lives.
Neither the Principal of GCW, Gandhi Nagar nor the the Convenor Picnic were available for the comment on this tragic incident. Meanwhile reliable sources, alleged that a message from certain fraternity washing their hands of the responsibility is doing a rounds in the WhatsApp group.
