JAMMU : In a development that has once again put the spotlight on corruption within the police force, a probationer Sub-Inspector identified as Danish Habib of J&K Police has landed in the CBI net over allegations of accepting a bribe, raising uncomfortable questions about integrity and accountability at the very outset of a policing career.
As per available reports, the CBI has caught red handed accused Probationer Sub Inspector posted at Police Station Janipur.
As per reports, the arrested accused PSI demanded ₹20,000 from a complainant for not registering an FIR in a marital dispute.
The amount was allegedly settled at ₹10,000, following which the CBI register FIR RC/FIR No. RC0042026A0010 and laid a trap on August 16 and caught him red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe amount.
The latest case adds to a string of corruption traps involving police personnel in Jammu in the recent past.
In April 2026, Head Constable Som Dutt, posted at Police Station Bishnah, was arrested by the CBI in trap case after allegedly accepting ₹10,000 as bribe.
In May 2025, PSI Murtaza Rehman, Incharge Police Post GMC Jammu, and SPO Himanshu Sharma were caught red-handed by the J&K ACB in an alleged ₹13,000 bribery case registered as FIR No. 06/2025.
In November 2025, CBI also arrested Head Constable (Munshi) Riyaz Ahmed of Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station, while probationer PSI Vijay Goswami was detained for questioning.
