Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday inaugurated 1,416 newly constructed transit accommodation flats for Prime Minister’s Package employees at three locations across Kashmir, describing the initiative as an important step towards facilitating the dignified return of Kashmiri Pandit families to the Valley.
Sinha inaugurated the largest residential complex at Zewan in Srinagar, comprising 936 flats, while complexes at Kakan Maran in Budgam (192 flats) and Kulangam Bagh in Kupwara (288 flats) were inaugurated virtually.
Emphasising the community’s cultural significance, he said Kashmir remained incomplete without Kashmiri Pandits and stressed that their return must be ensured with dignity, security and confidence.
Of the 6,000 flats sanctioned across 20 locations in the Valley, over 5,200 have been completed and more than 3,800 allotted. The LG directed officials to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply, adequate security and prompt grievance redressal.
