Team of Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau on Saturday caught red handed Incharge police post Government Medical College, Jammu and a constable (driver) for demanding and accepting gratification of Rs 13,000 from rehari owners in lieu of permitting them to operate from encroached footpaths and road in the area.
The arrested police officer has been identified as Murtaza Rehman, Probationary Sub Inspector and constable Himanshu Sharma (driver).
The duo were arrested in a trap which was laid by the ACB after receiving a complaint alleging therein that arrested public servants were demanding illegal gratification for running Rehari at the exit Gate of GMC Jammu from the complainant.
Following complaint, a discreet verification was conducted, which established demand of bribe by the accused public servant and accordingly, a case FIR No. 06/2025 U/S 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and section 61(2) BNS, 2023 was registered in Police Station ACB Jammu and team was constituted which successfully apprehended duo police officials along with gratification amount in presence of independent witness.
