    ACB raids Chenani Hydel Project, record seized

    Jammu: The Anti Corruption Bureau today conducted raid at Chenani Hydel Project pertaining to complaints of large scale corrupt practices against the officers of Power Development Corporation Udhampur namely B.S Jaggi, Executive Engineer, Power Development Corporation Udhampur, Upinder Jit Singh, Director Finance, Gurdev Sodhi, AEE and Rajni Gupta, CPAO, wherein it was alleged that a fraud has been done in Generation Division Udhampur of Power Development Corporation worth Rs.25 Lacs, that too on papers only and without doing any works on ground and purchasing of material on exorbitant rates and other allegations. 
    On the basis of a specific complaint, a Joint Surprise Check was initiated by Anti-Corruption Bureau, J&K to verify the allegations and subsequently a joint team comprising of officers of Engineering Wing of ACB Jammu and Officers of JKPDCL Jammu deputed to Chenani Hydel Electric Power Project (District Udhampur) to conduct spot inspection with regard to various works executed and records.
    The record pertaining to the complaint was scrutinized. The team also examined the various purchases made by the officers on exorbitant rates.
    There were allegations against the then Director Finance who had allegedly managed his posting for a long period in Power Development Corporation and remained instrumental in purchases on exorbitant rates.
    The allegations regarding irregularity in maintenance of 33 KV line is also under enquiry and team is investigating this aspect too. The ACB team has seized the records and further investigations are going on.
