Poonch: With an aim to promote sports amongst the youth of remote areas and to further strengthen the bond between Army and civil population, Indian Army conducted a Kabaddi Tournament for Selection of Kabaddi Team from Poonch district at Bufliaz, Poonch from 20 to 24 Sep 18.
A total of four teams from Haveli, Mandi, Surankote and Mendhar participated in the tournament. The final was played on 24 Sep 18 wherein Mendhar defeated Mandi team.
The selected players from district team will represent Poonch district with the prospects of playing in the ‘Inter District Kabaddi League’ being conducted at Doda. The matches were witnessed by a large number of villagers including school children of the region, who cheered the players.
On the occasion, Army applauded the youth for their efforts and encouraged them to make the best use of such a platform to display their sporting talent and also laid emphasis on the importance of games and sports for their overall development.
