JAMMU: There are complaints of massive unauthorised construction of commercial as well as residential structures at Gujjar Basti in Belicharana area right under the nose of Jammu Development Authority.
Due to silence of Jammu Development Authority officers and officials against these illegal constructions, the area is fast emerging as another unplanned inhabitation in the heart of the city where buildings raised sans approved plans have become menace for public, said a resident of the area namely Rajinder Singh.
The field staff of JDA usually visited the area but prefer to condoned the illegal under constructions in Belicharana area, said another resident of the area.
Decorated with Medal of Honesty- Puneet Sharma, Director Land Management is in-charge of enforcement wing in JDA who is so far miserably failed to initiate action against the BOCA violators as well as field staff who condoned illegal structures in Belicharana.
Sharing photos of several ongoing unauthorised constructions in the area, Kamal Singh of the area said “None of these under construction commercial and residential structures have approved plan but strangely the JDA officers prefer to sit mute for reasons best known to them”
Not only Belicharana, there are complaints of unauthorised constructions going in Greater Jammu area, Bishnah, Kunjwani, Nagrota, Sidhara, Sunjawan, Narwal, Bhathindi, Roop Nagar and Birpur in alleged connivance of the concerned enforcement Inspectors of JDA, complained several citizens.
On the allegations of the citizens, the JKGN team visited JDA areas and observed serious deviation of building bye laws in case of approved plan structures whereas several commercial and residential buildings were also surfaced which were raised in absence of sanctioned plans and in violation of JMP-2032.
“Failure to prevent unauthorised constructions or deviations in constructions by jurisdictional officers simply gives an impression of complete absence of DLMA control over field staff” alleged JDA sources.
These countless under constructions in Belicharana reflects laxity in the implementation of JMP-2032 by the officers and officials of JDA who were in cahoots with violators, alleged JDA sources.
There is a deep nexus between the violators and enforcement inspectors as owing to which the JDA officials prefer to turn their eyes blind for alleged under hand deals, he added.
On being apprised about these large scale unstoppable illegal constructions in JDA jurisdiction, DLMA Puneet Sharma who recently also decorated with medal of honesty said “What do you want and immediately disconnect the call”
To our surprise, when we shared the photos of illegal structures coming up in Belicharna and tried to seek his reaction on whatsapp number of Puneet Sharma, he blocked us instead of coming clean on the allegations”
