To curb rising menace of fake  and uneducated media persons,  the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Jammu and Kashmir, has issued a directive to all District Information Officers (DIOs) in the Kashmir Division to report misuse of media identity by unscrupulous elements who posed themselves as  media persons.

This order has assumed significance as several legisltors recently while demanding strict action against unscrupulous media persons have lodge strong protest over posting of a video with malicious intent by one news portal about two cabinet ministers conversing with each other in the Assembly.

It is learnt that the DIPR has issued directive amidst complaints from several quarters about allegations of blackmail, extortion, and publication of unverified contents by uneducated persons as well as several persons posing themselves as Journalists and claimed association with media organisations.
