JAMMU: Expressing resentment over several hanging projects, the Youth National Conference has blamed the administration for befooling citizens with developments claims which now a days appear high in floral advertisements and less on ground.
In a meeting held today in Shere Kashmir Bhawan and presided over by Provincial President YNC and former MLC, Ajaz Jan Former MLA several burning issues related to the common masses which especially include deplorable condition of roads, water shortage and power crisis as well as defunct irrigation canals.
Several workers stated that in the rural belts of Jammu, power crisis is deepening with unscheduled curtailment which has become cause miseries for the people.
Demanding formation of a review commission to get exact details of development works and projects existing on ground, Jan said “For past sometime it’s become tradition to brag of development in big hoardings and advertisements which actually not traveable on ground”.
The road connectivity in the areas especially in rural pockets is in worst condition and the concerned departments failed to meet expectations of masses, he blamed.
Citing examples, Jan said that PMGSY started work on a road from Moughla to Khawas in Rajouri and even after almost a decade, only one kilometer of road is blacktopped with Katora patti nallah bridge is yet to be constructed and thousands of people have to risk their lives and to cross the flooded river.
He added that a project for Kandi to Khawas road in Rajouri was sanctioned under CSR after which tall claims were made that Khawas road will be upgraded like a model road but present condition of road is in front of everyone and it has become a monument of dilapidated roads in J&K.
“Gambhir Mughlan to Patrara road in Rajouri, Mendhar to Mankote road in Poonch, Rajouri to Surankote road connecting Rajouri and Poonch, Khandli to Peeri road in Rajouri and Batote to Chakwa road and Assar to Chill Road of Ramban Distt. Melan to Trigam road and Kuleed to Hullar hunjala roads of Doda are some examples that shows gross root situation of road connectivity is not as depicted in papers before higher authorities by the concerned departments.” Jan said.
He said that similar is the condition of roads in other districts of Jammu province and said that even the roads in urban areas are in worst state putting the lives of people to severe hardships.
He further said that besides roads, a number of other development projects in districts of Jammu province are hanging since years now.
“The achievements under much highlighted Languishing projects should also be presented before the public.” Jan demanded.
He also appeals to the Government of India of J&K to fulfil the democratic aspirations of people and said that the government should also pay concern towards plight of people who are struggling to get their Jobs.
