    Harsh inaugurates cricket tournament in Manwal

    Udhampur :Harsh Dev Singh Former Minister and JKNPP Chairman today in-augurated a cricket tournament organised by Manwal cricket league at Manwal town in which teams of District Udhampur and District Jammu participated. The opening match was played between Jammu Chilla Tigers and Manwal Kings in the presence of Harsh Dev who was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

    While speaking on the inaugural function, Harsh Dev Singh exhorted the youth to develop a sports culture in view of multiple benefits associated with youth sports and physical activities. He said that sports are as important as formal education and recalled the famous quote of Mahatma Gandhi who emphasized the significance of alround development of body, mind and soul in the life of an individual. Fighting a common goal with a group of players is an exciting experience which teaches one build team work, collaboration and harmonious co-existence. Also, the determination and goal setting skills a sport requires can be transferred to the classroom, he added.

    Asserting that sports should be compulsory part of education curricular, Harsh Dev Singh said that they help to develop leadership qualities and foster completive spirit in young men. By entering into healthy competitions they win or lose and are thus exposed to both aspects of life, success and failure, prepare to accept both with a positive spirit, said Harsh. He said that the most important benefit of the sports is the sportsmen spirit that you inculcate. Sports helps you become more positive and stronger. Winning a game gives you a feeling of accomplishment which boosts your confidence further, added Singh.

    Harsh Dev Singh said that acute stress and strains that the youth faced in present times could be de-escalated to a great extent by participating in games and taking part in spots activities. Such exercises help in a natural way to release tensions and stress besides augmenting the physically stamina and strength so very essential to meet the challenges of the contemporary world, said Singh. Participation in games can protect young sportsmen against social isolation as they get an opportunity to engage in valuable and positive relationship, to safely navigate and negotiate between right and wrong as they get to interact with peers and adults, he said. He claimed that youth involved in sports are more psychologically resilient. He called upon the participating youth to involve more and more students and youth in such activities for the ultimate good and well being of younger generation. He complimented Sunil Keshav and Vinod Sharma for organizing such a mega event in a remotely situated town of Manwal.
