    IMPACT: GK residents applaud JMC for action against upcoming illegal commercial structure

    Jammu: Sending clear signal to violators, the Jammu Municipal Corporation on Tuesday demolished one upcoming vast commercial structure in Greater Kailash area.

    It’s reported that the construction work on this building was going on without any approved plan and its ground floor was constructed taking undue benefit of lockdown period in between March-April.

    Located in lane number 27 of ward number 68, the owner in violation after completing the ground floor was gearing up for first floor construction.

    The residents of the locality have expressed their resentment over the construction of commercial structure in the residential area that too without any authorization.

    On June 18, JKGN carried a detail story about this illegal commercial building after the locals of the locality have apprised about it.

    Taking serious note of this vast commercial structure where construction was completed in its ground floor during the lockdown period, Commissioner JMC Avny Lavassa personally supervised the demolition drive along with Joint Commissioner (A) Ashish Gupta and team of enforcement officers and Inspectors.

    The locals of the area have praised the timely action of JMC especially Commissioner Avny Lavasa for tough action against the commercial building in residential area which is detrimental to the peaceful life of the surrounding inhabitants.

    Talking to the media, Commissioner Lavasa said that the doors of JMC are open for everyone and those desirous of undertaking constructions new or old have to seek permission.

    “The JMC have streamlined the building permission system for the welfare of the citizens” asserted Lavasa.

    Everything is available at the click of the mouse and online and there is no need to fell into the trap of middlemen, added Lavasa. For adopting shortcuts in constructing buildings, the defaulters need to face the music, further added Lavasa.
