JAMMU: Finally, the authority in Jammu University wake up from deep slumber and resolved seniority issue of teachers which was pending for a decade on flimsy grounds.
As per order No Adm/TW/21-779-829 dated 16/07/2021, the varsity fixed seniority in consonance with UGC guidelines 2010 of 201 teachers who were promoted/appointed on or after 15-12-2008. The seniority list includes 67 Professors, 13 Associate Professors and 131 Assistant Professors.
At the fag end of 3 years term which is expiring on July 24, the Vice-Chancellor, perhaps acts sans his coterie which results in resolition to a long pending issue of teachers seniority in the campus, said a senior Professor of JU wishing her name not to be quoted.
The order issued by Deputy Registrar further stated that the university further seek clarification from University Grants Commission for drawing final seniority of those teachers who were promoted/appointed prior to UGC guidelines 2010.
Pertinently, JK Global News on June 19, 2021 in its exclusive news item has highlighted the simmering discontent prevailing among teachers on seniority issue which was bitting dust in Jammu University for last 10 years. Consequently, the authority in varsity started the process and held deliberations with Jammu University Teachers Association (JUTA) and decided to resolve the matter as per UGC guidelines in fixing seniority of teachers.
Entire teaching faculty have appreciated the decision of the authority and termed it as end of all existing anomolies which used to remained as stumbling block in preparing the final seniority list.
