With the arrest of five accused, the Jammu (Rural) Police has achieved a major breakthrough by solving a recent dacoity case in Akhnoor and arresting five accused persons.
Pursuing investigation in FIR No.173/2025 U/S 126(2)/310(2)/115(2)/191(2)/190 BNS registered at Police Station, Akhnoor wherein the complainant employed as a driver of a Tata Mobile load carrier stated that accused about five in number in an autorickshaw intercepted him near Maira Mandrian, Akhnoor. Thereafter, assaulted and vandalized his vehicle and committed dacoity by looting cash amount of Rs 55,000 and laptop.
Developing leads on the basis of human and technical intelligence, the police team successfully arrested accused have identified as Atul Sharma S/o Madan Lal R/o Bhardah Khurd, Tehsil Akhnoor, District Jammu, Vishal Singh S/o Sukhdev Singh R/o Trutta Dabrer, District Udhampur, Amit Sharma S/o Krishan Lal R/o Bhardah Khurd, Tehsil Akhnoor, District Jammu. Neeraj Sharma S/o Ramesh Chandra R/o Maira Mandrian, Akhnoor, District Jammu and Rohit Sharma S/o Makhan Lal R/o Mawa Karora, Tehsil Akhnoor, District Jammu.
As per details on its social media account, the police said that Initial investigation reveals that the accused had assembled in a forested area with prior conspiracy and intention to commit the offence, confirming it was a premeditated act.
