    JMC launches crackdown against illegal constructions in Gandhi Nagar, City

    Jammu: The much needed qurantine measure by Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Pankaj Magotra there by suspending two alleged ‘corrupt’ Khilafwarzi officials namely AEO Ravinder Sharma and Inspector Ramesh Wazir has started yielding results in Gandhi Nagar and it’s surrounding area.

    As per reports, the newly appointed team of Khilafwarzi officer led by AEO Rakesh Puri and inspector  Kant Kumar Sharma under the supervision of Joint commissioner (A) Ashish Gupta has detected large number of unauthorised residential, commercial as well as constructions goin on uniteruptedly in land use violations in Gandhi Nagar and it’s surrounding areas.

    Team also ceased a restaurant of HaldiRam at 38 A Gandhi Nagar which was operating illegaly in land use violations.

    Reliable sources revealed that the new team of Khilafwarzi officers which took command of Ward number 20, 21, 22 and 23 few days back in view of suspension of two officers on corruption charges has also issued nearly dozen notice to owners for carrying illegal constructions allegedly in connivance with the suspended Khilafwarzi officials in Gandhi Nagar, Satwari and Shastri Nagar.

    In another drive, the enforcement team also demolished a huge commercial structure on roadside in Karan Nagar, Amphalla which was build by its owner by altering residential area.

    Pertinently, this illegal structure was raised when AEO Ravinder Sharma was posted in this area.

    Meanwhile, sources in JMC revealed that the two suspended inspectors are still calling people for smooth carrying of illegal constructions in Channi Himmat, Trikuta Nagar, Gandhinagar and Shastri Nagar area by boosting the defaulter owners of having close proximity with JMC Commissioner as well as Mayor.

    “Need of the hour is to trap these black sheeps with the help of Anti Corruption Bureau as the former are bringing bad name to the office of upright Commissioner” said JMC officer preferring anonymity.
