JAMMU: Mocking tall claims of anti encroachment drive launched by LG administration, a group of habitual land grabbers belonging to gujjar community in broadway light have encroached upon a prime piece of land on National Highway by dumping tons of debris into a nallah near Block office of Manda Wild life Sanctuary in Nagrota jurisdiction.

As per locals, this huge nallah is a natural water body over which also lies a vital bridge. “For the last few weeks, a notorious land grabber alongwith his associate of gujjar community are continuously dumping truck loads of debris into this nallah to level its surface”, complained a local Gandarb Singh.

“There are reports that land grabbers have all set to construct commercial establishments by levelling a nallah with debris located adjoining Lakshmi eating point and New Delli Restaurant near Manda Road, Nagrota”, said one local who wish not to be identified.

Already, the gujjars have encroached upon huge chunk of prime land worth several crores which is lying in close vicinity of this nallah by grabbing forest and state land.

Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Avny Lavasa when informed about this development said “Encroaching upon state land with impunity is thing of past. These land grabbers will face music law.”
