    Police cracks twin Udhampur blasts

    UDHAMPUR: Police has solved mystery behind twin blasts inside parked buses which rocked the area on Sep 28 and Sep 29, the police has arrested one militant who was involved in these subversive activities.

    The team of Udhampur police while working on twin blasts got some leads on the basis of which some suspects of the nearby area were rounded and subjected to intense questioning.

    During questioning one suspect Mohd Aslam Sheikh S/O Mohd Shafi R/O Kadwa Basantgarh confessed that he had placed the IEDs in both the buses at Bus stand Ramnagar on 28.09.2022 at around 3 PM on the direction of his Pakistani handler Mohammed Amin Bhat @Khubaib S/O Dawood Bhat, R/O Kathawa, Doda(at present in Pakistan). Mohammed Aslam was in contact with Pakistan based handler for quite some time.

    He was motivated by the handler to receive some consignment from near international border (Samba Kathua axis) who also promised him some monetary benefits. On 23.09.2022, as per the direction of handler, Suspect received a consignment from Dayala Chak area and took it to his home on 24.09.2022.

    Further, he kept the the said consignment at his home. On 28.09.2022 again on the direction of handler Khubaib, suspect took two IEDs to Ramnagar bus stand, activated and kept one each in the side cabin of Udhampur bound buses, and returned back.

    On the disclosure of suspect, some recoveries have also been made from his home which includes IED (02 Nos), sticky IED (3 Nos), detonators (5 Nos) Timer devices(2Nos) and 04 number of dry batteries.

    Worthwhile to mentioned here that accused Mohammed Aslam Sheikh is a surrendered militant of HM outfit and is also involved in, case FIR number 16/2005 U/S 302, 307,121A,121B RPC/7/25 Arms Act and FIR number 17/2005 U/S 307,121A,121B RPC7/27 Arms Act of PS Malhar Kathua.
