JAMMU: Matter of shame for Health & Sanitation wing of Jammu Municipal Corporation as out of 659 case of Dengue in Jammu Division, the majority reported from JMC wards which primarily includes Rajeev Nagar, Sarwal, Rehari, Bhagwati Nagar, Channi Rama and old city wards.
The alarming number of dengue cases from old Jammu city also exposed tall claims of Officers of sanitation wing about cleanliness in wards.
Criticising the sorry state of affairs prevailing in Health and Sanitation wing, one officer preferring anonymity said “One official who was recently promoted in sanitation while bragging of close proximity with health officer is accepting Rs 30,000 to 50,000 for ensuring transfer of supervisors as well as inspectors in permanent and money minting wards”.
The irony of the fact is that instead of improving sanitation in wards both Chairman Sanitation Committe and Health Officer are more concerned about the nallah gang and fleet engaged in desilting of deep drains, alleged another sanitation officer. Together, they duo are managing the show of JMC as Bunty and Bubbli, alleged another officer on condition of anonymity.
To everyone surprise, assistant sanitation officer of old city wards where condition of wards have gone from bad to worst has assumed the role of Darbari in HO office, reveals insiders.
Not only this even the contractor who is engaged by JMC for supply of mini load career for lifting of garbage without failure regularly meet Arun Nayar for reasons best known to them. “The HO have waved off penalties worth lakhs to this contractor for non functional GPS in garbage collection careers” alleged JMC sources.
There is grahi nexus prevailing in JMC. Those who grease palms are transferred to prosperous permanent wards as well as those wards where Rehris are plying in abundance, reveal one sanitation officer.
Arun Nayar on his promotion as ASO was transferred to Railway station and surrounding wards. In few months, he was again transferred to city wards and since then he is visible more in the office of Health Officer then on ground performing his assigned duties, avers one sanitation inspector.
It’s alleged that few sanitation officials who are considered close to HO are collecting money resorting to unfair means through under hands deals over imposing fines of Rehris for use of banned polythene,C&D fines and littering collection from commercial establishments portion of which goes into the personnel pocket of blue eyed ASOs which later distributed as per designation.
This entire grahi operation runs through supervisors who usualy greased the palms of officials in JMC for their choicest place of postings. Higher the bid, better is the place of posting, asserted one sanitation officer.
When contacted, Dr Sanjogita Soodan, Health Officer, JMC while trashing all allegations as “propoganda” said ” There is no room for corruption in sanitation wing untill she is on the chair”
