    SDPO City East launches crackdown against drug peddlers

    JAMMU: With an aim to broken the back bone of drug peddlers in the area, the police has launched a special targetted drive in Narwal and it’s surrounding areas and arrested one drug courier and recovered 3 Kg Ganja with cash amount of Rs 1,20,000.

    The entire operation against the drug peddlers was conducted by SDPO City East, Bikram Kumar under the direct supervision of SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil.

    During the day long operation four teams comprising of SHO Bahu Fort, SHO Bagh e Bahu, Incharge PP Bhathindi and Incharge PP Narwal were constituted and nakas were laid down to nab the drug peddlers with the help of technical surveillance.

    As per available reports, during this drive one patrolling team led by SHO P/S Bahu Fort Inspr. Deepak Pathania assisted by I/C PP Narwal Insp. Vikas Jasrotia rounded up a suspect namely Sandeep Kumar S /o Lt Madan Lal R/o Rajeev Nagar, Narwal, Jammu near Rajeev Nagar chowk.

    Consequent upon his search, 3 kg of Ganja and one lakh 12 thousand was recovered from his possession.

    On this, case FIR No. 56/2021 US 8/20/29 NDPS Act got registered at P/S Bahu Fort and accused got arrested. The police is further questioning the arrested accused to unravel the modus operandi adopted in supply of drug in the city.

    The locals of the area especially residents of Rajiv and Qasim Nagar appreciated the initiative of SDPO City East Bikram Kumar against the drug peddlers.

    Ghulam Ali Khatana, BJP state secretary said” Such drive indeed will help in curbing the growing menace of psychotropic substance in the area”

    Appreciating the efforts of SDPO City East, senior BJP leader Sardar Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Qasim Nagar said said”Such drives are need of the hour”
