Srinagar: A complete shutdown was observed in Tral town of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday to protests against the use of force on students by government forces on Wednesday.
Reports said that youth hurled stones on shops and public vehicles today morning, triggering a shutdown in the area.They said that all shops and other business establishments remained closed while the traffic was off the roads in the town.
Reports said that the government forces allegedly used excessive force on protesting students of Degree Colleges Tral when the students were protesting against the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua.
Forces allegedly resorted to teargas shelling in the premises of Government Degree College Tral resulting in injuries to many students. Several female students fainted due to heavy tear gas shelling.
Locals also alleged government forces damaged private vehicles and windows panes of the college while students were holding a protest
