JAMMU: There is deep mess prevailing in the functioning of Jammu University under the incumbent Vice Chancellor Prof Manoj Kumar Dhar.
The situation demands intervention of Raj Bhawan to restore Raj Dharama in the campus of Jammu University which fast emerging as centre of victimisation for upright and honest faculty members.
From grave disorder in handling administrative work to rendering justice to a lady Professor of Law Department who is victim of an alleged sexual assault besides installing ineligible and incompetent blue eyed as Director, Centre for IT Enabled Services and Managementt, the JU affair is running through Tughlakhi Farman, alleged a senior officer of JU.
The efficiency of the JU administration can be gauged from the fact that in the past two and half year five Registrar have been changed whereas despite plethora of large scale allegations of financial irregularities against Prof G.M Bhatt nothing yet move an inch in the shaddy probe, added JU source.
In fact, the JU administration is running with blind eyes like Dridhrashtra of Mahabharat, asserts one official of VC chamber.
The lastest case of victimisation for objecting to rampant favoritism is Prof Vibhakar Mansotra who raised red flag against the appointment of one Ankit Gupta as Director, Centre for IT Enabled Services and Management.
Ironically, though Ankit Gupta academically is not even eligible to be appointed as lecturer in college in the concerned discipline but because of his close proximity with VC and his coterie he was appointed as Director, Centre for IT Enabled Services and Management at the cost of most experienced and a qualified faculty of the varsity, alleged one Professor of JU.
To supress, the commotion against his favourite Ankit Gupta, the VC on the basis of an anonymous letter has ordered an inquiry against a professor who unveiled alleged illegitimate appointments in the IT Centre, sources revealed.
Interestingly, the VC has ordered an enquiry in contradiction to the circular and advisory of Ministry of Personnel, GoI to trash every anonymous complainants even if the allegations are true.
Majority of the varsity teaching faculty has termed the institution of enquiry against the whistle blower Prof Mansotra as an act of intimidation to humiliate him.
Enquiry against Prof Mansotra has lowered the sanctity of VC office and it smacks of a conspiracy to victimize latter for raising his voice against appointment of an ineligible and incompetent candidate to head Centre for IT Enabled Services and Management in JU.
Earlier, Prof. Mansotra dashed letters to the Registrar demanding constitution of a committee to scrutinise appointment of Ankit Gupta as Director, Centre for IT Enabled Services and Management in JU.
It’s worth to mentioned here that Professor Mansotra is the Highest Qualified, Possessing M.Sc. & M.Phil degrees in Physics; P.G Diploma in Computer Applications; M.Tech in Computer Science (from IIT Delhi) and PhD in Computer Science and IT.
Surprisingly, the person who has replaced him is not even elligible for a post of Assistant Professor in a college as Computer Application faculty, said an officer of JU.
