JAMMU: Demanding impartial enquiry into the controversial killing of three missing youths of Rajouri in an encounter in Shopian, former minister and Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party leader Choudhary Zulfikar Ali today met the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Jammu.
While apprising the LG about the entire unfortunate matter, Zulfikar described the killing of three youths as shocking and demanded proper enquiry in a time bound and transparent manner.
Zulfikar also urged the Sinha for adequate compensation and employment for the next kin of the victims.
In a statement, Zulfikar stated that the LG listen to the entire episode with care and assured an impartial and time bound probe to unearth the mystery behind the disappearance of three poor labourers of Rajouri district in Shopian and subsequent killings in an encounter.
On July 17, three three labourers namely Imtiaz Ahmed (21) of Dhar Sakri in Kotrenka, son of Sagar Hussain, Ibrar Ahmed(18) of Kotrenka, son of Bagha Khan and Mohammad Yousuf (26) went missing and were later found killed in an encounter with Army in Shopian.
As per reports the trio went missing just a day before security forces claimed they had killed three unidentified militants in Shopian.
The family of the deceased youths only come to know when the media carry the photos of those claimed by Army as unidentified militants killed in an alleged encounter.
We are hopeful that LG will order and pursue a serious, impartial and transparent investigation that leaves no stone unturned in finding out what happened to these three poor labourers who have lost contact with their families since July 17, added Zulfikar.
The truth behind their disappearance must be unearthed as quickly as possible,” he added.
“There are unverified reports that the missing labourers have been killed in a fake encounter in Shopian on July 18. This is shocking and must be probed in a time-bound manner,” asserted Zulfikar.
